Experimental investigations on RC beams exposed to variable loadings

Funding

Short abstract

Certain concrete structures such as bridges, warehouses, parking garages and others are in serious need of rehabilitation or strengthening as a result of deteriorated structural components, resulting in deficient load-carrying capacity. During the past two decades, the application of advanced composite materials such as carbon fibre – reinforced polymers (FRP) to upgrade or repair functionally obsolete structure components has attracted significant attention from the civil engineering community. The numerous studies that have been carried out to date on FRP-strengthened concrete elements have mainly focused on the static and short-term responses. This research project deals with the experimental investigation in the area of the long-term behavior of strengthened reinforced concrete elements subjected to variable loads.
